Year end/beginning blog

So, we made it through 2009, how about you?

Last year was a trying year for us personally.

Once again we want to sincerely thank everyone who helped out during Amy’s Mother’s recovery. Whether you called, stopped by or sent encouraging thoughts it made a difference. Mary is almost fully recovered and we wouldn’t have been able to get through it without friends and family.

Also, thanks again to all who helped during Amy’s accident. Luckily it was not nearly as bad as it could have been and having family, friends and fans that care helped tremendously.

And, for all of our other trials and tribulations in 2009, thanks once more to those who sent an encouraging word our way. Every phone call and email and post meant a lot and helped a lot.

Now on to the good stuff!

While the nastiness of 2009 overshadowed the good overall, there were some great Happy Cloud Picture events.

April 2009 saw the official release of Spatter Movie: The Director’s Cut, Happy Cloud Picture’s first self-distributed title. With the help of SRS Cinema Splatter Movie is available world-wide and is selling well. Keep an eye out for our next title.

Another new for us was the start of our publishing arm. The first title was Splatter Movie: The Director’s Cut the Annotated Screenplay. With an introduction by Tom Sullivan and Mike Watt and annotated by director Amy Lynn Best, it’s a great companion to the movie and a cool collector’s item.

Next came a collection of previously published short stories from Mike Watt titles Phobophobia. With an introduction by Buffy the Vampire Slayer’s Amber Benson, this collection is an interesting look into the twisted imagination of the man who writes our screenplays.

Mike then published a collection of essays and blogs titled Random Acts of Mike Watt. This time he went for an introduction by bassist and cool guy Mike Watt of the Minuteman. This collection takes you through a journey of past appearances, films, vacations and general musings Mike has posted on his personal blog and other sites for the past 10 years.

The final publishing of the year was Europa’s Cry. A six year project conceived by the talented Mike Apice and written by Mike Watt, it is a novella that all fans of Mike’s must read.

In proction news, Happy Cloud also started pre-production last year on a comedy. This is complete turn from our previous projects because there is no horror in it. It will rely on characters, story and acting rather than effects. We’re really excited about this project and can’t wait to tell you more about it.

We’re also finishing up Demon Diva’s and the Lanes of Damnation. We’re getting great feedback on this and we’ll keep you updated on the release.

As far as appearances, right now we’ll be at Cinema Wasteland (Strongsville, OH) in April and October and Horror Realm (Pittsburgh, PA) in September. Keep and eye on our websites for updates.

We hope you all have a healthy, happy and prosperous New Year!
